I do not want you to feel reliant and hamstrung by running all over town spending valuable time and money on never ending appointments. I want to teach you how to listen to your body and know how to get long term results
I earned my BFA in Dance and Choreography from VCU then moved to Orlando to dance for several companies including my own. Dancing at this level inevitably leads to injuries, rehab, recovery and body exploration to keep your instrument healthy and moving in tip-top shape, thus began my quest for information.
I did the very typical yoga teacher thing; I started yoga for cross training and fell in love with the deep connection, love and appreciation I was making with my body after years of trying to fit it into a box and sweat it into submission. So me, having been described as somebody who "eats information for breakfast, lunch, and dinner," didn't stop there and started seeking more knowledge beginning with a Yin and Restorative Yoga certification.
This "missing link" allows us to get to the heart of the problem or pain quickly and develop effective movement and self care methods to tackle the pain from the source. It has been a great addition to the arsenal of tools we use to solve our body puzzle.
This opportunity opened up to me after watching it transform the lives of countless clients including my own mom. The EKS Method is an alignment based method of healing and pain management utilizing precise movement, manual manipulation , and deepened awareness to increase your mobility, strength, and overall health and well-being by moving into proper body alignment long term.
The EKS method, developed by Emily Sabo, is an alignment based method of healing and pain management utilizing precise movement, manual manipulation, and anatomical, verbal and tactile cues to assist the practitioner in finding deeper and more effective postures safely. These methods help people with varying bodies, backgrounds and training restore proper alignment, mobility, flexibility and strength in the body to maximize the body’s performance under pressure and extreme exertion.
Thus, resulting in pain-free movement from even life’s most basic daily activities - be it walking, bending or reaching - to complex movements such as dancing, advanced yoga or aerial skills.
Whether you are suffering from severe pain, an advanced yoga or pilates practitioner wishing to deepen your practice, an athlete seeking to move more efficiently, to a dancer or an aerial performer wanting to develop graceful strength, all can benefit from the EKS Methods.
"NKT or NeuroKinetic Therapy is a sophisticated form of manual therapy that combines motor control theory and manual muscle testing. The science of motor control theory states that the motor control center in the cerebellum stores all the coordination patterns of the body. It is directed by the limbic system and the cerebral cortex to not only create movement patterns, but also to create substitute movement patterns when we are injured.
When a muscle is inhibited for whatever reason, the motor control center will find a substitute muscle to perform the function. If this pattern is allowed to remain in the motor control center, dysfunction and pain will follow.
NeuroKinetic Therapy is an excellent modality in rehabilitation and manual therapy because it not only identifies the cause of pain and dysfunction, but also corrects it very quickly and quite painlessly."
